Starter: Look in turn at the following websites and with the person sitting next to you, decide whether you think they are serious or hoax sites.
Using Email
Today we are going to look at using the school email system using Microsoft Outlook – find and open Microsoft Outlook from your desktop. After a quick demonstration from me, try and work through the following tasks.
Task 1
Create a new email and sent it to somebody else in the class. Tell them one thing you like about Shrewsbury High School.
Have a look at the address book. Can you explain how to use it to the class?
Task 2
You should now all have received an email from someone in the group. REPLY to your friends email and CC somebody else in the class – do you agree with what they like about the school? If so, tell them. If not, tell them what you like. You could also tell them what you don’t like about the school!
Task 3
FORWARD one of the messages you receive to somebody else in the class and explain that you are forwarding on somebody else’s views about the school.
Task 4
Add your own personal email (NOT your school email!!!) to your contacts so it is easy to send things home.
In order to access your contacts when you send an email message, you will need to do the following (this is tricky so take it carefully!);
- In Outlook choose – Tools – Options
- In the Mail Setup Tab, click on the e-mail accounts button
- Under directory, choose add a new directory or address book and click next
- Then choose additional address books and click next
- With outlook address book selected, click next
- Click OK – you will need to close and re-open outlook for the changes to take effect
