Movie Maker

This lesson you are going to create a movie from brief video clips and produce a finished piece of work.  Your movie should have titles at the beginning and credits at the end.  It should also have subtitles on some of the clips as appropriate.  Include transitions between scenes, add some background music and apply special effects as you see fit.  Basic outlines of how to do some of these things are found below.  Other help can be found here.

Trimming clips

If you want to trim one of your clips, there are two ways you can do this.  Click on the show timeline button at the botttom of the screen.  Then either;

  1. Drag the playback indicator to the position where you want to split the clip in two and choose Clip/Split or
  2. Drag the playback indicator to the position where you want to begin to trim and choose Clip/Set Start Trim Point and then do the same for Set End Trim Point

Adding titles and credits

Under the movie tasks on the left hand side, under Edit Movie choose Make titles and credits and then explore

Inserting transitions

Transitions affect how your movie moves from one clip to another.  Again, under Edit Movie choose View video transitions and drag your required transition to the space in between two clips.

Applying effects

You can apply special effects to some of your clips.  Under Edit Movie, choose View video effects and drag the required effect onto your clip.

Adding music

You can import a music track to play in the background of your movie.  Under Capture Video, choose Import audio or music.  You can find music to import in Pupils\ICT\Software\Audacity\Sound Effects

Saving your project as a movie

Under 3. Finish Movie, choose Save to my computer.  Follow the instructions but be careful about where you save your movie.  You can create a new folder if you want to or just use the My Movies folder.  Choose the option Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended) when it comes to choosing the movie setting.
