Design (25 Marks)
Your design section should be split into three parts;
1) Hand drawn plans 2) Design Justification 3) Software Justification
1) Your hand drawn plans should include;
- Details of fonts, sizes, colours etc.
- Page layouts, size, margins
- Sources of data
(where are your pictures, text coming from?)
- Does your plan satisfy all your desired outcomes?
2) Design Justification: Complete this in Word, you should explain certain aspects of your design. Why have you laid it out like that? Why have you used that font style or colour? Why have you decided to put the logo or picture there? If possible, relate you design justification to your desired outcomes.
Your design justification can be written separately in MS Word or written on the hand drawn design.
3) Your software justification should include; (again in Word)
- “I will be using [piece of software] to complete the [task] because …”
- Highlight the features of the software that will help you to complete the task.
- Make sure you cover the desired outcomes!
- A good software justification will list the desired outcomes and then under each one explain which feature of the software will be used to achieve that desired outcome.
| Marking criteria
Design – should include a plan and software features as a minimum 1-5 may contain just a layout plan or just some software features 11-15 developed a “hand drawn” plan which shows how the problem is to be solved, list of features and explained some design choices (which may be present in a plan and/or features). 21-25 developed a good “hand drawn” plan appropriate to the user’s needs, a clear focused description of the reasons why the software is suitable and detailed explanation of the design choices and how they meet the user’s needs.
