Implementation (45 Marks)

Keep an implementation log (like a diary) which shows the different stages of your implementation and explains the skills you have used.  You will need to use MS Word or Publisher to complete your implementation log.

  • Ensure that you take screen shots of your versions as you go.  You need at least two previous versions.  Remember to number your versions!
  • Annotate these versions by;
    • indicating what still needs to be done
    • describing any changes you want to make and why
    • explaining any differences from the design
    • Indicate clearly which is your final version
  • Use screen shots to demonstrate the important skills and techniques you are using (e.g. hyperlinks, inserting pictures, drawing tables)
  • Cross reference your versions (“As you can see on version 1 …”)
  • Explain your reasons for the final version (“I am happy with this version because …”)

Marking criteriaImplementation – should show stages and include annotation.Implementation must match design otherwise maximum mark is limited to 36 – this also applies where a candidate has “Justified” software features in design but chosen to use a different type of software.

Implementation mark moves down a box unless there is a clear annotation to explain why changed from design.

No candidate annotation but development stages – maximum mark of 27 for all tasks.

No candidate annotation and no development –

       Tasks 1 and 3         limit of 18

       Tasks 2 and 4         limit of 9

Spreadsheet implementation – development implies that formulas/ functions used are displayed to achieve 19+ Database implementation – development implies that results of queries/reports/labels are explained and shown to achieve 19+
